Warped Tour: Flogging Molly in Missouri
Are they traditional Irish music? Are they punk? Lead singer from Dublin Dave King says they’re both.
And the Springfield, Missouri News-Leader looking is forward to the Warped Tour’s arrival in the Missouri cities of St Louis and Kansas City.
Warped stops at St Louis TODAY Tuesday, August 14, 2007, and here in Kansas City TOMORROW, August 15, 2007 at the Verizon Amphitheatre.
Pete Smith of the News-Leader went to see the Warped Tour in Indianapolis last week to prime us all for your taste in “punk, ska, metal, screamo, rap, reggae, Mexican wrestling, skateboarding or straight-up rock”
And because of the crowd reaction, Flogging Molly gets Pete’s nomination for this year’s “Best Pit” award.
If they didn’t invent Celtic punk, they certainly perfected it. No other band even comes close to getting the number of people moving that lead singer Dave King does.
Smith also got to talk with lead guitarist Dennis Casey. Asked why Flogging Molly are still playing the Warped Tour after all these years, Casey said that the Warped Tour was their first national tour and the best way for FM to play for new fans.
And then Smith elicted some advice for fans who might fancy meeting up with Flogging Molly after the show:
If you want to try to drink with the band after the show, your best bet might be checking Pop’s 24-hour bar east of the Mississippi River intermixed in the Sauget ballet. If you do meet up with the band, Casey requests that you bring them some clean socks.
Flogging Molly is coming out with a new album next year, and if you’re loud and unruly, they might just play you some songs off of it. They are also discussing the possibility of playing a tour of mid-sized cities after the album’s release.
