Máiréad Nesbitt Inspires Missouri 4-Year Old
Máiréad Nesbitt, the Irish fiddler with Celtic Woman is the inspiration for the youngest student at Palen Music Center in Liberty Square.
The Missouri 4-year-old Emma Engleman plays a tiny violin at Palen, following in the footsteps of her older sisters, 10-year-old twins Alberta and Hannah.
Emma’s mother is quoted in the KC Community News:
Emma was learning to play “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” but her real love was Celtic music, especially songs played by fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt.
“She wants to be a Celtic woman like Máiréad,” Engleman said. “She listens to her over and over.”
NOTE: “Máiréad” was written incorrectly as “Mariread” in the article, and I fixed it rather than go with a [sic] note.
From Tipperary, Nesbitt is a former Fleadh Cheoil All-Ireland fiddle champion, and was named by Irish Music Magazine as Best Traditional Female in 2003. I don’t know about you, but I like my females traditional.

As one of Mairead’s millions of admirerers, I know that she will svelte ( Yiddish for overwhelming happiness ) over this beautiful story. Please congratulate her on her guestbook at her website and make her day. Half Celtic, Steve Morrison.
