Flogging Molly for Kansas & Missouri
Flogging Molly have announced they are heading back out on the road for the SideOneDummy College Tour with special guests Bedouin Soundclash, Zox and the comedy troupe, Whitest Kids You Know.
Flogging Molly play Liberty Hall in Lawrence, Kansas on Wednesday, 4th October. The boys (and girl) then head east on the tour before returning to the midwest and playing at the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri, on Monday, October 23.
There are a lot of punked up bands out there playing stuff derived somewhere along the way from Irish traditional music, all of them having taken their lead from The Pogues - though none of them can touch Shane MacGowan’s songwriting skills nor The Pogues musical skills (there’s a Celtic supergroup for ya), which, such is the talent of MacGowan, often gets overlooked.
That said, Flogging Molly are the best of those bands. They’re loud, energetic, charismatic, pack some serious punch, can go soft when they want to, and in Dave King they are not short of songwriting skills themselves. Forever Kansas City should be grateful for what Flogging Molly did to the fashions and hairstyles seen in Brookside at an Irish Festival all those years ago.
It was a Sunday FM played, and King came to me, a fellow Dub, looking for a quiet pint of Guinness in Kansas City. But I’m not telling you what I told him. Well okay I will - if you form your own Irish punk band and play to thousands in Kansas City on a Sunday.
The SideOneDummy College Tour is sponsored by Fuse, the video game “Guitar Hero II” and Punk Stop. For other tour dates and ticket information, visit the FM website

On your events calander you have Oct. 23 as Flogging Molly’s Lawrence show but it should be the Columbia show, right?
Yes, thank you. It should be fixed in both places now.
