Irish Rock Band Opens for AC/DC in Kansas City
If you asked me what Irish rock band was opening for AC/DC when their Black Ice world tour reaches Kansas City, I’d tell you the answer.
And I just have.
The Answer are from Downpatrick in Northern Ireland (you may remember my photos of Downpatrick), and have been around for a few years, long enough for Kerrang! to call them “stupendous”.
“Sounds as fresh as any debut album in living memory,” was Kerrang’s reaction to Rise, and “Uplifting and authentic, classic rock is safe in the hands of this brilliant young Irish band.”
Classic Rock voted The Answer 2005’s Best New UK Band at their annual awards. They also ranked Rise #3 out of 2006’s 50 Best Albums, calling it, “phenomenal. In short, a world class debut that goes a long way to reclaiming Britain’s blues-rock credibility.”
The Answer play the Sprint Center in Kansas City, with that small Australian outfit called AC/DC, on January 21 of 2009. It’ll be here before you know it. (The tour reaches St Louis a bit earlier - on January 13).
Band Members

Lead singer Neeson told the Belfast Telegraph that:
Opening up for AC/DC on the American leg of the Black Ice World Tour rivals any high we have experienced as a band and there have been a few to date…I’m sure this will be an experience to remember and it’s a real privilege for us to be offered the opportunity.
