Jackson County Genealogical Society Meeting
The Jackson County Genealogical Society will meet at 7pm Thursday in the Truman/Amtrak Depot
building, 1111 W. Pacific Ave., Independence, Missouri.
Jillayne Ritchie reports in the Examiner that society member Barbara McTygue Scanlon will be speaking on Irish genealogy and the challenges of Irish surnames:
She and her husband, Ed, helped found the Kansas City Irish Festival held on Labor Day weekend at Crown Center. Barbara gives workshops at the festival on basic genealogy and Irish genealogy. She will be bringing and sharing several of her resource books during her talk.
