Dead Girls Ruin Everything Best Pop Music Award 2008
The Kansas band Dead Girls Ruin Everything, who also double up as Thik Lizzy, tribute band of original Irish rock superstars Thin Lizzy, won in the Best Pop category at the 2008 Pitch Music Awards the other night.
As their primary manifestation of Dead Girls Ruin Everything, they describe themselves as rocking
like Thin Lizzy would if Phil Lynott ever had a chance to hear Swervedriver.
DGRE have recently brought out their debut album What A Perfect Ending, on ReIgnition Recordings, and you can of course listen to bits of it on their MySpace page.
Thin Lizzy Fans will be interested in the next Thik Lizzy date which is tomorrow, Saturday 23, 2008 at 9pm in the Riot Room. They’re playing with fellow tribute band, Kansas City’s answer to AC/DC, the perfectly named KC/DC.
If I remember correctly Thik Lizzy used to be Thick Lizzy but have now dropped the “c” - presumably because less consonants is more rock.
With or without the “c” the Dead Girl don’t do the Lizzy thing too often in so if you want to see a live rendition of the songs of greatest Irish straight rock band in KC, I’d head along to 4048 Broadway rather than wait for Bosko to reform.
This event has been posted on the Kansas City Irish events calendar.
