New Session in Lawrence, Kansas
Willy Peterson recently announced a new session in Johnnys Tavern in Lawrence, Kansas.
Johnnys is located on the North bank of the Kaw River, 401 N 2nd St., in historic North Lawrence.
If you’re not familiar with sessions, they’re a great way to enjoy Irish music in a relaxed fashion, very social and open . Strictly speaking there are long established rules for governing how they operate -to the unfamiliar they shouldn’t be apparent.
The sessions will take place between 3pm and 6pm, and are conditionally set for the 1st Sunday of each month - which means you are looking at the following dates:
• 6th April, 2008
• 4th May, 2008
• 1st June, 2008
• 6th July, 2008
• 3rd August, 2008
There may be a big venue pop up from time to time, so the session won’t be confirmed each time until the week before, but Willy reckons “it is worth it as this is an excellent spot for being on the the inside track of the Lawrence scene”.
This session should nicely complement the existing sessions at The Gaf and the sessions at the IMCC, as well as sessions up at Benedictine College - which I need to update on.
