Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom
Sunday Short time.
The featured Irish short film today is a nice little fable called Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom (My Name Is You Ming). It’s beautifully shot and acted, though maybe a little simplistic for me.
Directed by Daniel O’Hara in 2003, Yu Ming Is Ainm Dom tells the story of a young Chinese man who picks a country at random to visit - Ireland - and sets about learning the language.
Those of you unfamiliar with Frank Kelly outside of his Father Jack role in Father Ted will get to see him in a different light here.

I rather thought the bit where the bartender tries to entice the man with Guinness, saying, “It’s OOirish!”. Got a chuckle out of that I did. The goofy little half dance move adds a special touch.
