Blogging on the Bus
Welcome to more live blogging from upstairs on a bus in England. Front row seats. In Buckinghamshire to be exact, surrounded mostly by sleeping passengers.
It’s a beautiful sunny day so you can clearly see the plastic bags decorating the hedgerows that of course reminds me of Ireland before the ban. In fact I’m smuggling two plastic bags back into Ireland when the weekend’s over.
I’m due into central London in about 45 minutes and then going drinking with the Irish diaspora. Not all of it you understand, just a manageable number. For the company.
Anyway that means I may well not get to tell you about a couple of Irish events in Kansas City but there’s already quite a lot on the Events Calendar.
Also today Tony of TKC posted a video by Lawrence, Kansas Blogger Ramsey showing the pre-opening night at the new “Irish” pub opening today in the P&L district, McFadden’s saloon. Music and noise mostly but don’t blame the video, blame the music and noise.
I might talk to you later today but as we come into London now the traffic isn’t looking too bad, so I might just go and have myself a weekend and maybe take advantage of the time difference and talk to you this evening.
Update: Coming into Shepherd’s Bush - where I once heard two old Irish women talking as Gaeilge - and it looks like I was wrong on that traffic not being bad. Also, isn’t it weird that I can be online on a bus?
Update 2: Nope, wrong again on the traffic - and sorry for being obsessed about traffic; it’s how everybody is whose life is impinged upon by Dublin. As we pass Marble Arch the traffic is just flowing. You could probably speed if that’s your inclination. Now if only Dublin’s traffic moved like this.
