Another New Irish Pub Confirmed for P&L District
As I hinted a long time ago, another Irish pub, Raglan Road, has been confirmed for Kansas City’s new Power & Light district.
If you nose around the web you’ll easily find that that other Raglan Road - in downtown Disney World in Florida - is very highly regarded when it comes to food, and if I had a photo to hand I’d show you one of what I consider an impressive Irish pub front.
Kansas City’s Raglan Road is to be a 10,000 square foot operation located across the street from the Sprint Center, and it will have two bars - at 14th Street and on Grand.
Raglan Road is owned by the Great Irish Pub company - which I understand to be the creation of 2 Dubliners, Paul Nolan and John Cooke. Famous Irish chef Kevin Dundon is again to oversee the menu.
Wicklowman Ian Byrne of The Elders tells me that his Byrne Custom Woodworking are responsible for much of the work on Raglan Road.
KMBC has some more, as does the Business Journal which even comes with quoted from mayor Funkhouser. And you can see a rendering of the main bar in the KC Star.
Raglan Road takes its name from this song, which takes its name from the Patrick Kavanagh poem, and they all take their name from this street in Dublin.
And here is a spot of Irish dancing at Kansas City’s new Irish gastro pub:
The press conference announcing the official addition of this new Irish pub to the P&L district was held yesterday while I was travelling to London.
The other new Irish pub in downtown Kansas City’s Power & Light district is McFadden’s - and that is scheduled to open this Friday, November 9, 2007 at 4pm.
