Winners of 2007 Meteor Ireland Music Awards
The seventh year of the Irish music industry’s Meteor Ireland Music Awards was held on Thursday and broadcast on RTE last night.
They might not mean a whole lot except perhaps give an idea of how Irish people inclined to vote in such things regard Irish music at the moment.

Not the most exciting list in the world, but maybe if you don’t live in Ireland you’re not familiar with Director or with Stevie Nicks. Sorry I mean Luan Parle. And Damien Dempsey is still the biz.
Clannad were awarded the Lifetime Achievement one, Paul Brady the Humanitarian one, and the truly legendary DJ, Larry Gogan, the Industry one. Supposedly there was an award called the Hope 2007 Award but I can’t find who that was awarded to so perhaps there is no hope for 2007.

Royseven won the Hope for 2007 award, Eolaí.
I would have gone for The Blizzards personally. Luan Parle was in the list too, but I guess she jumped straight from being a ‘hope’ to a ‘best’.
Ah, thanks Primal - though I’m going to cling to the belief that the judges at least had the option of considering there was no hope for the year.
Have read of both Royseven and The Blizzards, but need to do some work on the familiarity front.
