Tours of Ireland and Missouri
I have a lot of work done on a cycling website that I haven’t told you about. And I’m not telling you about it now either.
But I mention it because there’s plenty I could say here on Irish KC about cycling that I don’t. I don’t, because it’s destined for the cycling site when it launches.
Yes the diary of my Cycle Across America is an exception - and I really do promise to post the 2nd half. Or you can wait for the book.
But given some of the current debates on cycling in Kansas City, however uncivil they may be, I am tempted to throw up a single entry comparing cycling in the KC metro area with cycling in the Dublin metro area. And maybe I’ll do that in the next couple of days.
But for now I just found it interesting that 2 cycle races, the newly revived Tour of Ireland and the brand new Tour of Missouri, are together being touted as some sort of proof of cycling being a “viable marketing platform” despite the “doping woes that’s giving cycling a black eye”.
You have to wonder if that will still be the opinion when the decision on Floyd Landis, and his 2006 Tour de France, finally comes. Whichever way it goes.

You sucked me in with the Cycling across America posts, and I’ve been waiting breathless ever since for the second half.
I really need to breathe at some point…but I will continue to wait patiently.
Sorry about that Angie - the intention was to go straight through start to finish. I was very surprised to find that I didn’t have a Tape transcribed. And it’s not easy to do - you should try listening to me; I can’t even understand what I’m saying.
Once it’s done though everything else will flow - I’ve checked and there are no more holes.
I’m just a little distracted right now.
Distracted? What are you doing with your time-packing up all your earthly possessions, moving to another country, and running numerous websites all while fending off hordes of man-eating mosquitoes?
Really, Eolai, priorities.
