The Cistern Chapel
Being right-handed, when I paint pictures I paint with my right hand.
But right now I’m painting a house. In the English east Midlands.
And to get at certain angles I find myself switching hands frequently.
Cutting a line with my left hand a couple of hours ago it reminded me of a paint job I did some years back. It was a biscuit and a bar. I mean it was a picture and a house.
Specifically it was bathroom. In Kildare. A jax under the stairs. With murals. Of Moscow. It took some serious contortions to get at some of those sloping angles.
Here I am then, sitting on the throne of the completed Cistern Chapel:
And over by the sink:
You might recognise St Basil’s there, but did you recognise Rosie O’Grady’s from downtown Moscow?
Speaking of cathedrals, there’s several of them in the Kremlin. Click for a closer look:
And yes the other images were a copy of the famous picture of Lenin hailing a taxi ironically juxtaposed beside a map of the Metro.
To produce these murals I locked myself in there for 9 days and came out looking like Rasputin. More so than usual that is. Anyway, don’t ask me to do this for you unless you have an awful lot of vodka.
See some other murals I painted. Of Dublin.
Bloody hell, man, I wish you’d come and do my bathroom! These are fantastic.
Very cool! My preference is for Henri Rousseau in the bathroom, but this all goes together well.
I’m not sure what it says that I misread your sentence and thought it was Lenin healing a taxi…
Hee hee.
Rasputin. Very funny, Eolai.
The murals are gorgeous.
Thanks guys. Or gals, if you prefer.
stwidgie I’m with you on the Henri Rousseau and in fact have long wanted to have a house where I would paint a jungle in the jax. I have done some jungle muraling but the photos are in a box in a crate in a storage facility.
If I ever have a home again I’ll post them. And paint more of them.

Excellent! I’m afraid my efforts were much more monochromatic. I love your mural of Lenin. Or as the neighbour would call it, muriel.
