New CD by Tullamore
Last month, Kansas City-based traditional trio Tullamore finished work over at Chapman Recording Studios on their upcoming CD, Wild and Wicked Youth.
The tracks are now in the hands of Phil Smillie (vocalist and flute/whistle/bodhran-player for the Tannahill Weavers) and engineer Grant Milne for editing, mixing, and mastering.
The guys have just finished the editing, and in Phil’s words, “the tune sets are sounding fantastic” and “I was amazed at how good the vocals are sounding”.
Tullamore (Mark Clavey, Mary Hanover, and Rachel Gaither) tell me they’re very excited about the project and are looking forward to having the CDs in hand around the first of May.
UPDATE: The CDs are now in hand. “Wild and Wicked Youth” by Tullamore has been released.
And I’ve told you this before, but what the heck. Tullamore is an Anglicization of the the Gaelic for ‘Big Hill’ - Tulach being ‘hill’, and Mór being ‘big. It gives its name to a town in Offaly in the midlands of Ireland, and another small one in Kerry. The Whiskey Tullamore Dew, is named after the Offaly town.
