Irish Music in KC by Captain Mackey’s Goatskin & Stringband
Irish music legend Jimmy Crowley, and the erstwhile part-time Kansas City resident, fellow Cork singing-songwriting, frontman of The Fuchsia Band, actor and seanchaí, Máirtín de Cógáin - are about to play KC again. And Atchison, and Jeff City.
Crowley & de Cógáin have been touring & recording for some time now as Captain Mackey’s Goatskin & Stringband. Sometimes they’re fleshed out by fiddle and guitar courtesy of Valerie Plested and Don Penzien respectively, and sometimes you get nothing but the spellbinding storytelling wonderfulness of just the two Leesiders.
On Tuesday March 9, 2010, Captain Mackey’s play at Eddie Delahunt’s coffeeshop the Cafe &, and on Thursday March 11, 2010, Captain Mackey’s play up the road in Atchison, Kansas, at the Benedictine College.

…would love to see them again. I only went the once-when they were in Branson a few years ago. It was altogether wonderful. Maybe I should road trip it North.
