Irish Music in Kansas City: Chulrua
Irish traditional music band Chulrua are playing in Kansas City on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 8pm.
Chulrua are Paddy O’Brien on the button accordion, Pat Egan on guitar and vocals, and usually Patrick Ourceau on fiddle but for this gig Dale Russ will be standing in.
Chulrua are among the quality trad bands that play in the region but that I’ve wanted to see in Kansas City for some time. Bohola, Gan Bua, and the Dave Munnelly Band are among others.
What you’ll get at this gig is two sets of approaching an hour each. There will be plenty of talk, about the tunes, the instruments used, and just to tell stories. You’re looking at a very experienced Irish band here who are playing a lot of dates in Ireland right at the minute.
This concert is a Missouri Valley Folklife Society presentation and if you’ve ever been to an MVFS gig you know they only bring in top quality acts. And if you haven’t ever been to one, just don’t worry about checking anything out - stick this is your calendar and go.
Location: Community Christian Church at 4601 Main St.
