Irish in World Cup Final
The thing about putting huge rocks on the side of the road to stop travellers setting up caravan and camp, means you trap things on the other side of the rocks if you don’t look before you build your iconic, dry (and very large), stone, wall.
So on my Dublin bus into town I got to see a lone old horse trapped by those pretty rocks that somebody placed too close together. For years. Or perhaps he couldn’t tear himself away from the watching the rowing on the Liffey.
And that’s what rowing means to me - if you don’t count sordid New Year’s Eve parties in one of the rowing clubs, or 21st parties where that rabbit had everyone shamelessly doing the Hawaii-Five-O thing on the floor.
And yet that’s enough. Yes, watching a horse watching rowing on Saturday afternoons, a few minutes from my home, means I’m pleased to read of the Irish progress to Saturday’s Rowing World Cup Final in Poznan, Poland today.
And you should be too. If you are, you can watch it streamed live on EuroSport at 10:48pm irish time (4:48pm in Kansas City) - just nicely after the USA game against Italy
