Ireland Not So Generous With Its Organs Any More
New figures show that Ireland has lost its place as being one of Europe’s most generous nations where organ donations are concerned. Back in 1990, well before the Tiger years, Ireland had more transplant operations than it did last year, despite there now being eight times more people on dialysis.
And this on the 7th European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation. In fact the Council of Europe have been busy, for in association with the World Health Organization, they say today, October 14th 2006, is also the 1st ever World Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation.
Hmmm. More money, less organs. There’s a joke in there. Or a book.
