Riverdance & Rain Reviewed
Riverdance, the Irish show that ultimately launched air stewardess stripteases, oily chests, Celtic underpants, and old fashioned bondage, to Irish music and dance, had its opening night at the Starlight Theatre on Tuesday, and is today reviewed by Robert Eisele in the The Kansas City Star .
If you remember Tuesday you’ll remember we had storms - which for an outdoor theatre are not without significance. If you don’t remember Tuesday, you had a better evening than I did.
After the rain delayed Riverdance’s start by forty minutes, the show was underway in front of 6,650 people approximately - and let me ruin it for you by telling you that:
The action builds to a thunderous climax, with company members dressed in crimson and black as they tap out a memorable finale with gusto and flair.
The youthful dancers are lean, long-limbed and energetic, with featured soloists Ryan McCaffrey and Siobhan Manson setting the standard for a spirited exhibition of dance that transcends the boundaries of geography and culture
You’ve a few more chances until it finishes on Sunday night July 2nd. Not every night will be subject to the wonder of nature. Last night for example, if I may quote the knowledgeable folk of Kansas City weather reporting, was ‘almost perfect’.
