Labor Day Weekend at the Irish Center in KC, MO
Irish events are taking place at the Irish Museum and Cultural Center in Kansas City’s Union Station on both Saturday, September 1, 2007 and Sunday, September 2, 2007 of Labor Day Weekend.
On the Saturday at 2pm is an event called Get Up Close to the Irish Quest for Independence.
This is a presentation of some of the original documents and artifacts that featured in Ireland’s battle for independence from the 1700s through to the 1920s. It includes the Declaration of Independence from the 1916 Rising that you tend to see copies of on the walls of authentic Irish pubs.
The items are from KU’s O’Hegarty Irish Library, one of the most important collections of Irish historical and literary books and documents outside of Ireland.
Admission is $6 for general public.
And on the Sunday at 3pm is an event called Taste the Whiskey, “the Water of Life”, of Ireland.
This event is bit more pricey because you get to taste several major Irish whiskeys. You’ll also get to learn the history of these fine whiskeys.
Admission is $30 for general public.
You can learn more from the Irish Center’s website and keep an eye on all events as they are posted on the KC Irish events calendar.
