Denmark nil, Ireland four.
Do you remember me reminiscing about this Danish moment of Irish history?
Well revenge has been exacted.
Actually that’s rubbish. Friendlies are called friendlies for a reason. They don’t matter.
It was comical during the summer to see some MSL fans claiming how good the league is based on performances against Glasgow Celtic and Chelsea, in what were, not simply friendlies but pre-season holiday warm ups.
Something about the Irish manager Staunton’s awful performance since his appointment has me feeling that he’ll echo Jack Charlton’s awful first Irish campaign by ending up qualifying despite producing the worst performances by an Irish team in years.
Meanwhile Northern Ireland beat Liechtenstein 3-1 in a game that matters in Belfast.
And for the small minded among you, or those of you with German heritage - which is a bigger group that those with Irish heritage round these here parts - England lost at home to Germany in their first defeat at the new Wembley.

It was fun meeting you last night. I was looking at your cartoons - you’re very talented.
And you’re very kind. Thanks Kristine. It was a good laugh. But then, what’s a bad laugh?
