Irish Firm to Double Employment in Lawrence, KS
We’ve talked about Identigen before. And again.
Well the Irish biotech firm is in the news again, specifically in the Lawrence Journal-World for its plans to double its employment in Lawrence, Kansas over the next year.
A couple of things the article also teaches you - assuming you didn’t already know - is that Tesco is considered the Wal-Mart of Europe, and that from Manhattan in Kansas to Columbia in Missouri is considered the “animal science corridor”.
The company already is in negotiations to at least double its lab and office space at 4824 Quail Crest Place in Lawrence, to make room for more equipment and personnel to handle existing and anticipated demand for Identigen’s signature TraceBack technology — a testing system that uses DNA to track meat from producer to processor to particular packages on a store shelf.
Because of cost-effectiveness, it’s in Lawrence that Identigen actually does all its testing for Tesco’s stores in Ireland, and it’s expecting to jump on board a wave of consumer driven interest in accountablility.
