Driving in Ireland Means You’re Not in Kansas Anymore
Not that the Silicion Valley is in Kansas to begin with but Mike Cassidy is telling you about his driving experiences in Ireland as an American on holiday, because nothing about his holiday said more starkly to him: We’re not in Kansas anymore.
Not wanting to go 100 anything per hour, regardless of how much shorter kilometers are, Mike found driving on the left hand side of the road from the right hand side of the car, whilst changing gears with his left hand, the equivalent of laughing in the face of death:
But my girls were impressed. Riley, 9, kept saying something about Dad teaching the Irish a whole new string of four-letter words. Bailey, 12, was the silent type, in awe no doubt. Or maybe she took me literally when after sideswiping a stone wall I said, “OK nobody say anything. Not a word. Nothing.”
Read the story in the Mercury News. And when you’ve read that you can have a look at Mike’s Blog which is about the column, if you follow, and it includes a two minute video of his 9-year-old daughter talking about their holiday (and Dad’s driving).
