Andrew Maxwell’s Guide to Dublin
With apologies to anybody from Limerick, and to anybody who doesn’t care, Dublin comedian Andrew Maxwell HERE on the Guardian gives one of his 6 video guides to Ireland in association with Tourism Ireland.
This tour guide video is of his hometown, and mine, Dublin.
Maxwell is an alum of the Comedy Cellar upstairs (naturally) in The International Bar, from which other comedians have appeared in Kansas City in the last couple of years.
From the Forty Foot by the James Joyce Martello Tower, to a Dolmen on a Howth golf course, before Moore Street and Temple Bar, I’m not sure you get tons of information, but I just have a soft spot for moving pictures. And anybody championing the Natural History Museum is worth a look. Maybe.
Maxwell finishes the guide by describing the change in Dublin in his lifetime in a way that never occurred to me, but I think I know what he means. He says Dublin has gone from being “a charismatic but eventually quite angry drunk, to a very, very pleasant drinking partner”.
Maybe when I move back I’ll make a video of Dublin for you.
