2008 Brookside Warm-Up St Patrick’s Parade
NOTE: Looking for the 2009 Brookside St. Patrick’s Parade?
The 2008 Annual St Patrick’s Warm-up Parade takes place on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 2pm.
That’s the same day as the Snake Saturday Parade north of the river. And by St Patrick’s Warm-up I presume we’re talking about getting prepared for the big Kansas City parade actually on Paddy’s Day, March 17 - as opposed to an Irish tradition I haven’t heard about of warming up the good saint himself.
The weather has been nice for this parade the last two years. I took this photo 2 years ago, which should give you an idea of the size of the crowd (click and the crowd gets bigger)
That 2006 parade was unseasonably warm, which is why people aren’t wearing proper clothes.
Last year I was in this parade. Playing the tin whistle no less. Well, I was reading the code I’d written on my fingers and trying to play the notes they signified. And walk at the same time. Apolgies for not looking up and waving. My memory is solely of a yellow line in the middle of the road. Drink Puppy Drink.
Look around and you’ll find a photo of the little tin whistling marching band that we were last year.
The Brookside St. Patrick’s Warm-up Parade has always been a fun, family event and 2008 will be no different.
The Parade Route start at 65th and Wornall heads north on Wornall to 63rd St, and that’s where the main crowd watches before the parade turns south on Main and loops back to Meyer and Brookside Rd.
