Young Dubliners Ireland Tour 2006
You’ve got to hand it to Keith Roberts of the Young Dubliners, frequent visitors to Kansas City and due at Weston in October. Not only is he a professional Irishman as he plays the Irish festival circuit in North America, but when he goes home he doesn’t turn off.
Keith says there are only a few spots left on this year’s Irish tour - the second annual tour / holiday to Ireland for the Young Dubliners and their fans. Due to band commitments the Dubs may not be doing a trip next year, so don’t be saving your money.
Last year the Dubs brought over 100 Americans on a hugely popular trip and this year the plans are more ambitious, including:
1. Round trip airfare to Ireland
2. 9 nights accommodations at first class hotels with the band.
3. Full Irish Breakfast every morning.
4. Free admission to all the bands concerts in Ireland.
5. 4 four course meals with all your fellow travelers and the band in the hotel banquet rooms.
6. Private coaches for all your transportation.
7. Guides on board each bus to give you the history of Ireland while you sit back and relax.
8. (Optional) Parties after each show back at the hotel. Irish hotel bars do not close until the last guest goes to bed!!
9. 5 crazy nights out with the band on our nights off.
10. A big meet and greet with the band and all other group members on your first night. People flying in from Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
11.A grand finale night in Dublin with a pub crawl and party back at the hotel to send you off.
12. Oh yeh, and you’ll meet loads of Irish people!!!
In most cases the band are staying for two nights at each location which means you can actually get to see the towns or recover from the damage you did the night before.
It’s an impressive arrangement starting with an acoustic night at the famous Matt Molloy’s (of The Chieftains) pub in Westport, and finishing with a gig at Whelans in Dublin.
And Keith wants to remind you that unlike pubs in America, Irish bars and clubs are “over 18″, which means it might be a chance to bring your teenagers on their last “family trip” before they leave you with empty nest syndrome, and you can teach them how to drink in a pub before they return to the land of high-fiving and belly-bumping.
