Will Ferrell’s Anchorman Huge in Ireland
Will Ferrell was in Kansas recently promoting Semi-Pro.
The Lawrence Journal World carried the story.
And because he lives in a world of catchphrases and repeated lines, he was asked if he thought Semi-Pro would generate a few quotable slogans?
“You never know,” he says. “I was just in Ireland for two weeks, and for some reason ‘Anchorman’ is huge in Ireland. I would get yelled at in Irish accents, ‘I want to be on you. … I’m kind of a big deal.’ A lot of ‘Anchorman’ quotes have come back around.”
Forgive me for not telling you earlier, but in my defence I had no idea. So now I’m going to around and ask. Because I want to know just how big Anchorman is here in Ireland.
Ok, I’ve just asked and I’ve been told “it’s a colossal cult hit” - for people of a certain age. I’m not of that age.
