Because despite my fondness for tradition, being Irish I’m not holden to a slavish society where trying to wish somebody well is subject to strict rules. As a rule.
So I probably won’t be saying Merry Christmas even though I’m not in the slightest against you having actual merriment this Christmas, whatever you think merriment means, and however short your Christmas is.
