Waldo Falldo Crawldo & Fall Festival
Twice a year a group of pubs in Waldo, some of them with varying claims of Irishness, organize a Pub Crawl for charity. You eradicate your brain cells for the greater good of the world, which is an enlightening idea that separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom - except maybe for the chimpanzees who are now learning to cross roads safely.
On Saturday, September 16, 2006, at 6:00pm, six Waldo pubs: Kennedy’s (Irish name), Lew’s Grill & Bar (Celtic Welsh cousins), 75th St Brewery (owned by the people who own O’Dowd’s Little Dublin), Bobby Baker’s Lounge, Fin’s Waldo Bar (shamrock on the sign), and Tanners, will again play host to the Waldo Crawldo Pub Crawl - the Fall one.
You buy your passport - $5 from one of the pubs in advance or $10 on the day - it entitles you to entrance to each of the pubs, and special prices on the beers, and if you get stamped at all six pubs (your passport not your feet) you’re eligible for an impressive array of grand prizes.
For the last pub crawl we wondered why The Gaf was not one of the pubs, and distance to walk from 75th and Wornall was the answer given.
The Waldo Falldo Crawldo follows immediately after the 14th annual Waldo Fall Festival which is on from 10am to 6pm on Saturday 16.
Waldo - a little bit of Ireland in Kansas City (ok it’s not actually, I just made that up)
