In Ireland where same-sex unions are not legal despite both the Taoiseach and Tánaiste being in favour, the British embassy in Dublin is hosting civil partnership ceremonies for gay couples - so long as at least one party is British.
The Guardian also reports that 64% of Irish voters are in favour of same-sex couples being granted the legal and financial rights enjoyed by married couples.
Meanwhile, Thurles favourite son, George O’Dowd, otherwise known as Boy George, features on a Channel 4 documentary admitting he frequently pays for sex. The Irish Examiner describes the Irish-English pop star and DJ as ‘troubled’, but he sounds anything but:
I like gay sex. Straight people have been doing it for years. Prostitution is the oldest, most respected profession. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it
