Snake Saturday 2009 in Kansas City
Snake Saturday is having its 25th Annual Parade on March 14th, 2009. Tom Cummings, Ed.D, Superintendent of North Kansas City Schools, is the 2009 Grand Marshal
This year’s theme is “Happy 25th Snake Saturday!” which clearly distuinguishes it from last year’s event.
As always, a full-day Family Fun Fest with carnival midway, children’s entertainment, free pony rides, race car display, food concessions, souvenirs, arts & crafts tent and Missouri State Championship Barbecue Contest will accompany the 2-hour long parade.
The parade will begin at 11am at 14th & Swift, heading north to Armour Road, turn east on Armour to Howell, then head south before disbanding at 18th Avenue.
Debbie Van Pelt-McEnroe will announce at the intersection of Armour & Swift, and Harry Baker will announce from the judge’s reviewing stand on Armour Road near Howell.
Between the parade and barbecue contest, $50,000 will be given away in prizes on Snake Saturday. $30,000 of that will go to the best charity floats in the parade, with a $7,000 1st place prize in the charity division.
