Peace
From Dublin airport today I managed to squeeze in a Christmas Eve stroll around town on my way to the family home.
Dublin was vibrant as seen from standing on O’Connell Street between the Tree and the Spire. Henry Street was only gently insane, with me arguably finding the room to wheel a mini-case, and both Liffey Street and Abbey Street were urgent but easier to breathe.
It hurts that Roches Stores is no more, and seeing Hector Gray’s with the shutters down. Arnott’s Bargain Basement looks very swish, and I take it that Chapters is gone, chapter and verse?
The cash point queues had only 20-30 people waiting in them so most people had either finished their shopping and/or already started their drinking.
The river was calm as I left town, and the lights were growing in their glowing as the sun was setting behind the Guinness brewery. There are times when Dublin is magnificent.
Peace.
No, that’s not a reflection of me in a red hat, it’s a painting I did on a bauble.
Merry Christmas!
A very happy Christmas to you and yours, Eolai.
