Passenger Lists of 100 Million Made Available
British genealogy site, Ancestry.co.uk, have made available passenger lists of over 100 million names from more than 100 American ports, in what is claimed to be the first time such a comprehensive list has been made available, and to market celebrate this fact are offering FREE access to their entire Ancestry Immigration Collection through to November 30.
Their site says that between 1820 and 1960 more than 9 million English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish people emigrated to America, so I’m wondering who the other 91 million passenger names are.
Ancestry.co.uk have released details of certain American celebrities’ ancestors who feature on the passenger lists - such as those of Halle Berry, Tom Cruise, Donald Trump and Laura Bush. The BBC reports the British ancestry of these celebrities, as does the AP article carried by the Kansas City Star. Maybe now we can start planning that St Georges’ Day Parade (And St David’s and St Andrew’s) in America?

Don’t laugh just yet - the folks down at Governor Stumpy’s are already gearing up for St. Kevin’s Day. For more details, just flag down Kevin Ryan (if you can) or any of the other three or four Kevins that have jumped on this particular bandwagon.
