Misla in Missouri
Major event time. Unmissable Irish traditional music in the region - if you’re truly a fan of Irish trad.
We’ve spoken of Tommy Martin before on Irish KC. His resume is so full it’s stupid. Should you be American then ’stupid’ in that context is not a bad word; it’s Irish shorthand for “so good, so amazing, it’s unfathomable”.
From Dublin but based in St Louis for some time, Tommy Martin is a multi-talented Irish musician who has played all over Europe, Asia, North America, and well have a look at a globe and you’ll get the idea.
From Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann to Riverdance to the Chicago Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra and collaborations with those who gave us Thin Lizzy, Tommy has been around.
An uilleann piper of the highest calibre, Martin has put together a trad band called Misla:
Kelly Winter - Piano Accordion and Concertina (MySpace)
Eileen Gannon - Harp and Concertina (MySpace)
Ian Walsh - Fiddle and Mandolin
Kevin Buckley - Fiddle, Guitar and Bouzouki
Tommy Martin - Uilleann Pipes and Flute ( • MySpace)
On April 6th and 7th Misla are performing at The Dubliner Irish Pub in St Louis, Missouri. This is quite a treat, that I really recommend you don’t take for granted.
