Liam Clancy Film: The Yellow Bittern
The Yellow Bittern, the new film, or movie as you say in America, about Liam Clancy previewed here in Dublin a few days ago and is about to open.
Directed by Alan Gilsenan it was a film I planned to review myself for you in anticipation of it eventually working its way through Irish America and into Kansas City, but Darragh Doyle on Culch.ie has done such an epic job I won’t bother.
The film took almost five years to complete and is, as was introduced in the Lighthouse, a take on “a man who has carried on a vibrant folk tradition and changed and revitalised it to pass on to a younger generation today.”
Have a read of Darragh’s Culch.ie post, it has photos and clips, and interviews by Darragh himself of Paul Brady and Glenn Hansard among others, and also the Q&A session after the movie, with Liam and the director, which Darragh filmed.
And keep an eye out for The Yellow Bittern.
