Is It Cold or Warm?
Yesterday I awoke to a horrible blue sky. A perfect blue sky.
No clouds anywhere. It went on for hours before we got the comfort of clouds.
But even then it was warm. It’s been warm for ages now. T-shirt weather. In the middle of October. In Ireland.
But even in these relatively extreme temperatures of good weather nobody talks about what it is - or at least they don’t talk about exactly what it is.
Nobody says, hey, it’s 72 degrees outside! Or, I hear it’s going to be a toasty 57 degrees tonight!
And that’s firstly because nobody talks Fahrenheit; 72 and 57 degrees Celsius would be newsworthy as they are 162 and 135 Fahrenheit respectively.
But even so the real reason nobody says what it is exactly is as I’ve said before, that we don’t do that.
I’ve been listening and in the few weeks I’v been home the only two words I’ve heard anybody use to describe the weather, are “cold” and “warm”.
Yesterday was warm. Today won’t be as warm. Winter will be cold. Summer will not be warm, or if it is it will not be warm enough. And spring will be cold most of the time except for the odd day when it is not too cold.

you funny irish.
but…i ran right over to my blog and removed the weather gadget.
funny, obsessed americans.
I believe we’re having your Irish weather here in Arkansas today, Eolai. There’s grey skies and a lovely soft drizzle, and it’s cool enough for long sleeves with maybe a sweater later on in the evening. I made a pot of coddle for supper yesterday, and the leftovers should be even better tonight. Wish you were here?
