Irish Waffle
Something I haven’t noticed a tendency for here in Kansas City is playfulness with language. Compared with what I was used to in Ireland, that is.
Neha Gupta is a 19 year-old India-born Irish student at Tipperary Institute with a multimedia project involving Irish slang, to help people who might be moving to Ireland.
One word an episode, it’s a pity there aren’t more . Here’s the introduction video, followed by links to the four substantive videos:
Irish words by Neha:
• W for Waffle
• G for Gasping
• S for Sca (strictly Cork)
• D for Doss
You may remember I did a less helpful slang project of a conversation consisting wholly of slang terms heard in Dublin.
Here’s hoping Neha returns for a fourth year in a multimedia degree programme because she knows how she can extend this idea, perhaps incorporating your suggestions.
Yes Bernie, I think these are great and will be looking out for more work from Neha.
