Irish Thrashed by Aussies
For anybody interested in waving a flag that says Ireland on it, regardless of what it might represent, Ireland were slaughtered in the cricket World Cup in Barbados today by Australia.
Ireland were all out for 91 in just 30 overs, though at one stage it looked even worse with the lowest World Cup total ever being a possibility.
Australia, who are probably the favourite for the tournament, took a mere 13 overs to reach their target of 92, losing just one wicket in the process and getting there before the break.
Coming directly after the collapse against New Zealand, it looks like Ireland are probably tired and ready to go home back to the real world away from those big mean professional cricketers.
Bangladesh are Ireland’s next opponents in the Super-8 phase of the competition on Sunday and being the other minnow are Ireland’s best chance at another surprise or even a respectable performance.
Then Ireland move on to Grenada to try against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
