Irish Music at First City Festival in Kansas
Leavenworth was the 1st city to be incorporated in Kansas.
To that end you have a First City Festival. Mind you the 2nd time it was held it was the second first city festival. And that’s confusing. Imagine a US President getting divorced and remarried in office. If the President was a man you’d have a second first lady.
Anyway, officially this is the First City Festival: Rockin’ on the River II, the theme this year being the same as last year. Or in other words “a continuation of our celebration last year that put the “fun” back in our festival”. Not sure why fun is in quotes. Could it be a euphemism, nudge nudge, wink wink? Or not fun at all?
The Main Stage in front of the Carousel Museum will be full of free, live performances during the entire festival. Among the various bands you can see on Friday are Lucky Charms. You can also see the Charms play on Saturday - for a children’s performance.
It’s the usual stuff that makes a festival a festival. And it’s free.
So go for the petting zoo (reportedly exotic), or the inflatables, or the pony rides, or the arts & crafts, or the strolling entertainers, or the classic cars, or the 3 0n 3 basketball tourney, or the arcade games, or even the festival food and drink.
Or go for all the live music, including the Lucky Charms.
First City Festival: Rockin’ on the River takes place September 12 & 13, 2008:
Friday: 3pm - 10pm
Saturday: 10am - 10pm
