Irish KC Updating Notes
Did you notice that yesterday I added Once to the Irish Events Calendar for yet another week?
Well if you did, I bet you didn’t notice that I swapped out the video of Horslips playing Dearg Doom, did ya?
The previous Dearg Doom included the interview with the original Irish monsters of Celtic Rock - but that’s long been unavailable so I replaced it with a new video which is really visuals of the boys playing live with original studio audio laid on top.
Or did you notice that yesterday I threw up a bunch of more paintings to decorate Irish KC on MySpace?
Specifically I added 8 paintings to the narrow left hand panels, and you can’t buy any of them as 6 are already sold and the other two aren’t for sale - the one under maps is called “This Is Not America” and I’m not ready to part with it, and the one under “Girls with yellow hair” is a personal one never intended to be parted with.
Or that I added - having forgotten to highlight - the presence of Ra’s al Ghul, Oskar Schindler, Qui-Gon Jinn himself, Mr Liam Neeson in Melissa Villanueva’s documentary Resting Places which has its debut screening at the Kansas International Film Festival.
Or that I’ve added several new categories, one example being for The Record Bar, which of course isn’t remotely Irish but as it regularly puts on some of the best live music to perform in Kansas City, it does feature quite a bit. Okay yes, there’s also that business of it formerly being the site of Molloy Brothers Irish Pub and before that Finnegans.
Changes will carry on, mostly unlauded and deservedly so.
Ah, the memories. That rift has been so often copied but never equalled.
About two years ago I got a call from a Finnish friend, now living in Co. Meath - She had been to hear a “new Irish group who play the most unbelievable music” - a Horslips reunion gig.
I never bookmark stuff from U-Tube, but this is special. Thanks, Eolaí. Owe ya one.
