Irish Conversation in the American Midwest #32
Big Screen
-Hey!
-Hey
-Can I give you a beer?
-I suppose you can
-Do you want to see my big screen?
-I’m all right thanks, I’m not really a screen person
-It’s very big. Come and I’ll show you
-Okay, you’ve sold me
-There. See?
-Yes I do see. That is big. Isn’t that most of the wall?
-Yes it’s great
-You don’t find it too big for this room?
-I only use it to watch sports
-What’s that there now?
-Some movie
-It’s very loud
-Yes it’s great for sports
-Almost like you’re there?
-I can’t afford much. That’s why I live in this little house. I hurt my back eleven and a half years ago and I ain’t done a day’s work since
-The screen must come in handy then?
-I love my sports. You like football?
-On and off. I tend not to watch it because I don’t have a television
-You can watch this one
-Thanks, but that might be just too much football for me
-What about the races?
-You watch the racing?
-Hell, yeah, that’s my favorite. I like nothing better than sitting here with a beer just watching the races
-Well that is tempting; I’ve never seen anybody watch horse racing here
-Not horse racing, Nascar! Nascar races!
-Ah
-Horse racing!
-Ah yeah, I em, better go, the dog is starting to get caught up in the movie
-Horse racing!
