Irish Beer Night in Kansas City
There is an Irish Beer Night on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Irish Museum & Cultural Center (IMCC) in Union Station, where there will be sampling of Irish beers, dinner, and Irish music by some fella called Eddie Delahunt.
You get to taste some of Ireland’s premier beers, to practice the perfect pour, and learn about Guinness history and brewing.
The Irish beers in question are Guinness, Harp, and Smithwicks. Stout, lager, and ale.
Smithwicks is pronounced with a silent “w”; it’s not necessary for you to imitate my Dublin accent and change the “th” to, in this case, a “d”.
Something else that has bothered me about things Irish in Kansas City (I’m a bothered man) is the reference to Harp. It’s Harp Lager. Harp. You have a pint of Harp. Or two pints of Harp. Or cans or bottles of Harp. You do not have do not have pints, bottles, or cans, of Harps. It is never Harps. Never. So stop doing it.
Admission
$45 IMCC member, $50 nonmember (memberships available at the door), Corporate or group tables of 8 for $400.
Location
The IMCC is located in the lower level west wing of Union Station in Kansas City. It’s a big building. Follow the railway tracks and you can’t miss it.
