Ireland’s Weather Forecast July 26 2007
Since people in the US ask me all the time, and despite the presence of the ould internets, and the satellite televisions and the shortwave radios, to which I could point people - here is the weather forecast for Ireland.
Just for now you understand; I’m not doing this every day.
And this is of course courtesy of The Irish Times
TODAY
Cloud with some bright intervals on Thursday with showery rains. Some showers will be heavy and thundery with the risk of hail. A fresh to strong southwesterly wind; especially in the south. Highs 15-19C. (59-66F)
TONIGHT
Not as wet on Thursday night across Ireland, though there will be a few showers lingering across the North, especially toward coasts. There will be some clear spells developing overnight. A moderate to fresh westerly wind. Lows 8-12C. (46-54F)
TOMORROW
A more settled day on Friday with some bright and sunny spells. A few locations will have an isolated shower; especially away from the coast. A light to moderate westerly wind. Highs 15-18C (59-64F)
Note how the following phrases all mean rain:
“Some bright intervals”
“Not as wet”
“Clear spells developing”
“A more settled day”
And I’ve talked about temperature forecasts before - at some length - but note how much bigger in range they are in Ireland than what you see in the US, and they’re actually quite tight in these examples.
Also, let the record show that as I write this at 3 in the morning in Kansas City, with the windows open and the fans blowing, it is 28 C (82 F) inside this horrible structure I call home. And the dog hates me.
