The Record Bar in Westport on St Patrick’s Day in KC
The Kelihans are part of the live Irish music extravaganza that is the Record Bar this March 17th, along with the sinfully neglected U2 tribute band Rattle & Hum and admirable Thin Lizzy tribute band, Thick Lizzy.
We’ve spoken about all of them many times before on IrishKC, and all 3 of them have played The Record Bar before, but you getting to hear them all on the one day, why you must think it’s Christmas. It’s not though; it’s St Patrick’s Day.
The action kicks off in the 1020 Westport Road venue just after the parade, if the parade is over by 1pm that is. And this year with the parade actually being - or at least finishing - in Westport, the Record Bar finds itself closer to the parade than it has ever been before. As the former location of the over-rated Molloy Bros and Finnegans‘ is down by the Covered Wagon on the other side of the trafficway though, there should be just enough breathing space around there for you that might not be likely down by Kelly’s at Pennsylvania.
