Once More unto the Breach, I mean the Tivoli
Speaking of Irish events in Kansas City, although I posted it on the Irish Events Calendar I didn’t draw your attention last week to the Irish musical movie Once having its run at the Tivoli extended for another week.
Well, it’s been extended again - until September 6 (at least). Because that includes the holiday weekend there are a couple of shows on Sunday as well as on Friday and Saturday.
I was talking to the projectionist from the Tivoli over the weekend and he said that the film just will not die. I lost count ages ago and so have no idea if we are now in the 12th or 13th week of its showing but this little Irish film (movie) is hugely popular all over America and so are the songs of its stars, Irishman Glen Hansard of The Frames, and Marketa Irglova, the Czech pianist.
I do hope it’s not the same people going every week. Tell me that its popularity is due to word of mouth and not word of the crazy obsessional little Irish person inside your head.
See Trailer and Reviews of Once.
I’ve posted the showtimes on the Kansas City Irish Events Calendar, but you’re always best to check with the Tivoli, don’t ya think?
A Eolaí,
The little movie that could is hanging on at the Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema, or something, here in Chicago as well. I missed the first very limited release in April, so I was elated when it was rereleased. Now it won’t die! Mr D and I saw it in July, I think, on a 100 degree F day - or was it 101? At any rate, I’ve only seen it once.
Slán.
Reread the original post and realized I recycled the “won’t die” thingy… Gabh mo mhíle leithscéal.
Never mind that - I’m really impressed that you’ve seen it once. Ha ha - once.
