Missouri and Belfast: A Titanic Link
The Belfast Telegraph, in the city where the Titanic was built, has discovered Branson, though it appears to think few others have.
Describing Branson as “a little-known American city”, the Telegraph is marking the return to its home city of the musical Titanic by the Belfast Operatic Company. And so it features the largest Titanic museum in the world by talking to its owner.
Given that Branson, Missouri is landlocked and has no connection with the Titanic, why build the museum there? Owner John Joslyn explains that it’s all economics:
You need to have major tourist business to do this. Seven million tourists come to Branson each year, it’s a huge vacation destination. The city has 35 live theatres and a theme park which attracts around two million people a year. It’s near the picturesque Ozark mountains and 700 miles of lake shoreline and 50% of the US population lives within a day’s drive
Irish KC gave you the wonderful gory details on this half-ship half-biscuit back when it opened.
