John Morris New CD
Last Saturday I was talking with John Morris as he was on his way to Browne’s big anniversary Irish festival.
I asked him about this new CD of his, It’s About Time, and he said it’s almost ready.
UPDATE: CD is released and features 14 tracks:
Johnny Duhan’s The Voyage, In The City of Chicago by Barry Moore (or Luka Bloom as you may know him), Pat Cooksey’s classic song of immigration to England’s construction sites, The Reason I Left Mullingar, Canadian folk supremo Stan Rogers’ Mary Ellen Carter, Alan Bell’s beautiful Wind in the Willows, and Queen of Argyll by Miranda.
And the traditional tracks are: Star of The County Down, Follow Me Up To Carlow, Black is the Colour, Arthur McBride, Marie’s Wedding, Mary From Dungloe, The Jolly Beggarman, and a traditional Irish Blessing set to music by John.
On what is John’s 2nd album, Eddie Delahunt and Gabriel Reyes perform, as does Brett Gibson on the piano accordion.
John of course has been performing Irish songs in Kansas City for way longer than I can remember, though I can only remember 8 years. 12 if you count holidays, but who wants to count on their holidays?
Actually John Morris was a neighbour of mine when I first moved to KC and one of the very first people to knock on my door and make me feel welcome.
You should check and see if John Morris’ new CD It’s About Time is in Sheehan’s Irish Imports.
