Concerto for Accordion: Brett Gibson & The KC Civic Orchestra
Andy Anderson is a regular attendee at performances by Eddie Delahunt, Brett Gibson & Gabriel Reyes, and on special nights you get to hear Andy’s wife Megan join the boys on stage to sing Summertime.
Not to be confused with Angry Anderson, the antipodean bald vocalist behind Rose Tattoo and the Kylie & Jason wedding ballad, Andy is the conductor of The Kansas City Civic Orchestra, and has been Music Director since 2001.
On Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 7:30pm in the Atonement Lutheran Church at 9948 Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas, Piazzolla’s Concerto for Accordion and Orchestra, is being performed by the Kansas City Civic Orchestra with Brett Gibson on the accordion.
Andy has already begun rehearsals with Brett for this Piazzolla Concierto para Bandoneon and if you’re familiar with the work of these men you’ll be greatly looking forward to experiencing the depth of musical talent that informs much of what you hear in the Irish pubs around Kansas City.
For the full schedule of the night’s music, see www.KCCivic.org
Brett tells me that there are no tickets required - it’s just a donation at the door deal
Hey, just wanted to extend a thankyou to all who came to this concert - we had a great turn out and some fascinating comment cards… (thankyou Brian.) I believe I’ll get a copy of the night’s recording this evening and probably get it posted somewhere that is accordion friendly pretty soon.
Looking forward to listening to the recording. The cursed pedal-break scuppered my plans to attend.
