Brett Gibson on MySpace
Multi-talented piano accordionist Brett Gibson has expanded his MySpace presence to now include a Music profile.
That means you get to listen to his stuff.
And for starters there are four very fine pieces, two classical and one from both of the new CDs by John Morris and Eddie Delahunt.
An Chéad Damhsa is Gibson’s own composition, 7 glorious minutes of a slow waltz that’s positively cinematic. Though I see it near the end of a movie myself, more of a last dance than a first dance.
The Concerto Para Bandoneon that Brett performed earlier this year with the Kansas City Civic Orchestra is also up there, and if you’re lucky you might get another opportunity to hear that live.
The other two tracks are Black is the Colour from John Morris’ It’s About Time, and Koteka from Eddie Delahunt’s Triuir.
From New Zealand, Brett is a long-time resident of the Kansas City area who has played with numerous bands who dabble in the Celtic genre, such as Gabriel’s Gate, Cavan, Residence Rules, and The Elders.
For many years now Gibson has, along with Gabriel Reyes, been playing with Eddie Delahunt, and you can see the three gents play regular weekly gigs on Wednesdays and Sundays at O’Dowd’s on the Plaza.
Note that if you think Brett is already your friend on MySpace that this is a brand new profile specifically for his music. He does still have his personal MySpace - where as it happens you can read all about the trouble with accordions.
Go - Make friends, and listen to the beautiful An Chéad Damhsa until you cry. Or smile. Or whatever it is you do that music does to you.
