New CD by Eddie Delahunt: Triúir
An Irishman, a Kiwi, and a Mexican, walked into a pub. And this new CD is what happened next.
Triúir is the Irish word for three when talking of people.
Eddie Delahunt, Brett Gibson, Gabriel Reyes. Three people.
There’s been a real buzz around the lads in Kansas City this last while as they’ve recorded this new album. It started with the recording of the new song I told you about a while back. It’s called Banner Man.
Counties in Ireland tend to have nicknames, and the Banner County is County Clare. Banner Man is inspired by PJ and Molly Cullinane who arrived in Kansas City all the way from Clare long before any other Irish people I know.
The recording went so well that it quickly evolved into a full scale album in an attempt to capture the sort of songs and sessions that Delahunt, Gibson, and Reyes perform live regularly in the Irish pubs of Kansas City.
The new song Banner Man, which I heard Eddie perform again last night, is sounding great, and I’m hearing really good things about the album from many people I trust.
Triúir was recorded at Westend Studios just down the hill from Eddie’s own Cafe &
Like Original Sing, Travelin’, and Alive at O’Dowd’s, the artwork once again is by Kansas city artist Mike Savage. I’ve seen it and it looks great. If you’ve ever visited Delahunt’s cafe you’ll have noticed the original paintings by Sav that were used for those album covers.
There are 12 tracks on the album Triúir, including a selection of tunes, but you don’t need me to tell you what they are. If you ever catch Eddie, Brett and Gabe live, you’ll be very familiar with them. And if you don’t, well you’ll be wanting this CD.
How do you pronounce Triúir. Well, if I asked you if you like the music this man and his two friends create, you might respond with, “Never a Triúir word was spoken”.
Triúir is almost ready for release, and should be available in no later than 2 weeks.
